Official: State Department has assisted more than 130 Americans fleeing Israel

“Hundreds of U.S. citizens have left Israel since the conflict began. Over the past few days, the State Department has assisted more than 130 U.S. citizens (to leave) Israel, and an additional 100 U.S. citizens are expected to leave Israel today,” a State Department official said.

“The department is currently directly contacting and assisting (and arranging) the departure of nearly 500 U.S. citizens from Israel,” the official added.

U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee said overnight that “we have received many requests to evacuate from Israel from U.S. citizens who are currently in Israel or have family in Israel” and that the options available were “very limited.”

Officials have warned that the situation in the region remains unstable and the security situation could change quickly as fighting related to the Iran conflict continues.

The warnings came days after the United States launched Operation Epic Fury, which targeted command and control centers, Iranian air defense capabilities, and missile and drone launch sites.
