NVIDIA still plans to make a ‘huge’ investment in OpenAI, CEO says

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang told reporters that the company will “invest a lot of money” in the latest round of funding in OpenAI, according to Bloombergcompletion The Wall Street Journal on Friday reported that the two companies were reconsidering a previous $100 billion deal that had not “progressed beyond the early stages” of negotiations. Speaking to reporters in Taipei this weekend, Huang reportedly said it would be “the biggest investment we’ve ever made.”

NVIDIA and OpenAI jointly announced in September that NVIDIA investment up to $100 billion of OpenAI to build 10 gigawatts of AI data centers. The companies previously said they were targeting the second half of 2026 for the first phase of the project to go online. Citing sources familiar with the discussions, The Wall Street Journal reported that Huang insisted privately that the agreement was void and criticized OpenAI’s business practices as lacking discipline.

According to Bloomberghowever, Huang called the report’s claims “nonsense,” and told reporters on Saturday, “I believe in OpenAI. The work they’re doing is incredible. However, Bloomberg reports, he said that NVIDIA’s investment in this round of financing will not reach $100 billion.
