Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic watches the 32nd match of Big Bash League 2024-25 between Melbourne Stars and Melbourne Renegades. The game is held at Melbourne Docklands Stadium.
Djokovic enjoyed a match filled with fours and sixes. However, star all-rounder Marcus Stoinis was left in shock when he almost hit the roof of the stadium. In the eighth over of the match, Tom Rogers bowled a long ball in the slot outside off-stump.
Marcus Stoinis saw his chance and hit the ball out of the park with all his strength. However, the ball only gains height, not elevation. It flew through the air for miles before landing in the hands of Kane Richardson on the edge of the boundary.
The ball almost touched the roof and Marcus Stoinis couldn’t believe he was stuck deep inside. Even Novak Djokovic, who was watching the match live, couldn’t believe how Stonis was dismissed and was shocked.

Glenn Maxwell delivers historic win for Melbourne Stars
Meanwhile, Melbourne Renegades won the toss and elected to start at home. They got off to a perfect start, taking out goalie Sam Harper early. The Renegades soon took two more wickets in quick succession, including the big wicket of Ben Duckett.
The Stars’ score further narrowed to 75-7, and it looked like their inning would be over soon. Skipper Marcus Stoinis was dismissed for a quick-fire 18 off 10 balls, including one four and two sixes. However, Glenn Maxwell had other ideas. The swashbuckling right-hander showed he still has control of the ball and made a dazzling performance under pressure.
He had Usama Mir as his batting partner but he kept hitting the ball consistently to drive the innings forward. Maxwell scored an outstanding 90 runs off just 52 deliveries, including 4 fours and 10 sixes, taking his team to 165 runs. He hit one of the most memorable shots in tournament history and truly entertained the crowd.
Melbourne Renegades far behind
In response, Melbourne Renegades also started poorly, losing wickets early on. Fast bowlers Mark Steketee and Joel Paris wreaked havoc on the Renegades’ batting line-up, reducing their record to 44-4. There was a brief partnership between Tim Seifert and Will Sutherland but the latter’s wicket collapsed again.
From then on, Renegades kept losing wickets and were eventually bowled out for 123 with just one ball to spare. Left-arm seamer Joel Paris ended with 3-13 in four overs, while Mark Steketee ended with 5-17 in his spell.
