On December 16, Noida Authority Director General Lokesh M ordered a 30-minute permanent punishment for officials of the residential plots department after they neglected an elderly couple who had come to the office to ask for help.

The couple was left standing for 50 minutes without being attended to. The incident came to light when CCTV footage showed the elderly couple waiting while officials were off duty.

After reviewing the CCTV footage and realizing that the elderly couple had been standing for another 15-20 minutes without assistance, Noida Authority Director General Lokesh M ordered officials from the plot department · the residential ones that are kept for 30 minutes as a punishment.

A video of the incident, which went viral on social media, showed the staff complying with the sanction. While imposing the penalty, the chief executive stated, “Only when you work on your feet will you understand the difficulties that the elderly face.”
