Insider describes the qualities Ranger Suarez brings to Boston Red Sox pitching staff

Shortly after Rangers Suarez confirmed his transfer to the team red soxMLB.com insider Ian Browne posted an article articleunderlining the qualities the Venezuelan brings to his new team.

“In this era of incredible speed, Rangers Suarez relies more on command and pitching combinations. Entering 30 in 2026 “Suarez brings a potent arsenal to the mix that includes six pitches, a sinker, a changeup, a cutter, a curveball, a four-seam fastball and a slider. Suarez’s offspeed is his most effective, with opponents hitting just .192 against his curveball and just .203 against his changeup,” Brown wrote.

“Suarez also provides another trait that’s valuable in this era – pitching deep into games. He averaged six innings per start in 2025 (157 1/3 innings in 26 starts) – and has historically produced a high ground ball rate. Although it was down last season (48%), in 2024 53.2% in the All-Star Game. The lefty is one of the best players in the majors at producing soft contact and leads MLB starters in hard-hit percentage at 31.1% in 2025.
