Newcastle United will challenge the clubs to break the British transfer Record if they want to sign striker Alexander Isak, it has been reported.
Issac, 25, has shone since moving to Newcastle in 2022 and is enjoying another excellent campaign, scoring 11 goals in 16 appearances, including seven in his last five outings in the Premier League.
This type of form has linked Issac with Premier League rivals Armory And Chelseawhen Barcelona, Real Madrid And Paris Saint-Germain have been tipped to try and lure the Sweden international back to mainland Europe.
NewcastleFor their part, not wanting to part with Isak, and The Telegraph Real have placed an asking price of more than £150m on their superstar forward.
The £150m fee would eclipse the current British record – Chelsea signed Enzo Fernandez for £106m – and make Issac the third most expensive transfer of all time in 2018, behind only Kylian Mbappe’s £163m move to Paris Saint-Germain and the French. The side completed the £198m acquisition of Neymar 12 months ago.
Newcastle feel under no pressure to lower their asking price as Isak still has more than three years to run on his current contract, with an extension expected to be negotiated in the coming months.
Crucially, Newcastle are known to be at the mercy of the Premier League’s financial rules, which forced them to accept offers for winger Anthony Gordon last summer before the eventual sales of Yankuba Minteh and Elliott Anderson.
A significant offer for Issac cannot be ruled out immediately, but Newcastle have several other players they would like to sell before making an entertaining offer for Issac, while also hoping his recent resurgence will lead to a return to European football and prosperity. which comes with it.
