The suspension will cost George, a nine-time All-Star, about $11.7 million of his $51.7 million salary, or about $469,691.72 for each of the 25 games he misses.
George is expected to return on March 25, when Philadelphia plays Chicago. The 76ers will have 10 games left in the regular season.
Philadelphia moved into sixth place in the Eastern Conference with a 26-21 record on Saturday. The Sixers are 16-11 when George is on the court and 10-10 when he is off the court.
George played 27 games for the 76ers this season, averaging 16 points per game, ranking third on the team in points per game, second only to Tyrese Maxey (29.4 points) and Joel Embiid (25.7 points). He had his best game of the season earlier this week, scoring 32 points and hitting nine 3-pointers in Tuesday’s win over the Milwaukee Bucks.
