Doncic had a team-high eight turnovers. Additionally, his 3-for-11 three-point shooting is considered part of the overall inefficiency that makes it harder for the Lakers to keep up with the offense.

He and the coach JJ Redick Complaining about the Pistons’ physical play. They blamed the referees for allowing more contact, and the Slovenian said the Lakers needed to match that physicality.

Despite losing and missing a three-pointer, Doncic scored 30 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists.

Skip Bayless publicly called out Luka Doncic for his turnovers and poor shot selection. He added that this was a key reason for the Lakers’ loss, as he said his performance didn’t help the team when they needed it most.

Reggie Miller criticizes Luka Doncic’s lack of defensive effort in Pistons loss

NBA legend Reggie Miller praised Luka Doncic’s defensive performance in a loss to the Detroit Pistons. Miller wasn’t particularly impressed with Pistons guard performance Jalen Duren Driving to the basket and pointing out that Doncic did nothing to help made it frustrating to watch.

“Look at Luka here. Luka, just move your feet a little bit and help. What did he do? He just put his hands up. That would frustrate me,” Miller said on the broadcast. “I love Luka. He is very useful to our game…”

The Lakers’ defense overall has been poor this season. They rank 25th in defensive rating at 118.5, with Luka Doncic at 115.6, just below Jared Vanderbilt. This season he averaged 33.5 points, 8.2 rebounds and 8.7 assists per game.
