Stephen Curry, LeBron James and Kevin Durant will be teammates in the new NBA All-Star Game, which will be broadcast live on Sky Sports this month.
The concept of Team USA vs. Team World has been discussed for some time but will be implemented for the 2026 midseason game on February 15 at the Inuit Dome, home of the Los Angeles Clippers.
James named to Western Conference reserve team Initially missed out on record 22nd NBA All-Star Gameis one of the 25 players participating, who will be divided into three squads.
The two U.S. teams are divided based on age, with younger players placed in “U.S. Stars,” older players in “U.S. Stripes,” and the “World Team” made up of select international players.
Detroit Pistons head coach J.B. Bickerstaff will coach the American Stars, San Antonio Spurs head coach Mitch Johnson will take charge of the American Stripes, and Toronto Raptors head coach Darko Radjakovic will coach the Serbian World Team.
The 75th NBA All-Star Game will be a round-robin mini-tournament with four 12-minute games, with each team playing each other once, followed by the championship game for the top two teams.
All three teams have at least eight players, the minimum requirement under the new format. Giannis Antetokounmpo is not expected to play for Team World due to injury, which is why the team has nine players.
The surprising name of the Clippers’ Kawhi Leonard was not on the original 24 All-Star rosters, but was added to the Team USA roster before the roster was released. Karl-Anthony Towns, who was born in New Jersey but played in the Dominican Republic, switched to Team World.
