The NATO military alliance said on Tuesday it would launch a Baltic Sea monitoring mission following alleged sabotage of undersea cables in recent months. Several telecommunications and power cables have been cut, and experts and politicians accuse Russia of orchestrating a hybrid war against the West as the two sides clash over Ukraine. The “Baltic Sentry” mission will include, among other things, “frigates and maritime patrol aircraft,” NATO chief Mark Rutte said.
