NATO is downplaying the Greenland dispute because the US defense chief is not present at the summit




NATO allies say tensions over Greenland have eased after the launch of the Arctic Sentry mission to boost security in the Arctic and reassure President Donald Trump, who has expressed concern about Russian and Chinese influence in the region. The dispute briefly strained the alliance, with members now focused on strengthening Europe’s role within NATO, but US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth was absent from the meeting in Brussels, as FRANCE 24’s Dave Keating explains.
