Reuters reported that the fight broke out during a debate over the disbandment of the Mexico City Transparency Institute.
The confrontation began when one woman grabbed the other woman’s hand, prompting the other woman to yank her hand away and poke her in the stomach with her elbow.

The scuffle escalated as the first woman retaliated by hitting her in the back and then grabbing the other woman’s hair.
A man came in and tried to let go of her hand, but more lawmakers rushed forward, and pushing and shoving swept across the podium.

The occupation of the podium was triggered by the opposition accusing the ruling party Morena of violating an agreement to establish a new transparent body.
The meeting broke down as the shouting escalated and rival groups clashed inside the chamber.

The session was eventually suspended and moved to another location so lawmakers could resume deliberations, local media reported.
