Amazon paid $75 million for the distribution and marketing rights to the Brett Ratner-directed film, which opened nationwide and in 27 countries this weekend, making it the most expensive documentary in history, The Reporter reported.
The first lady is also an executive producer on the project, which is produced by Muse Films, the production company the first lady founded late last year.

According to “Reporter”, the strong box office performance is mainly attributed to Americans over 55 years old, who accounted for 78% of ticket buyers, especially women over 55 years old, who accounted for 72%.
The weekend box office of theaters in rural areas also reached 46%, which is unusually high for a premiere box office. Florida, Texas and Arizona is the state with the highest ticket sales.
The film has received mixed reviews, with some critics slamming it as propaganda for the Trump administration.
