Guardiola once again expressed his support for the Palestinian people, saying he would continue to speak out against Israel’s genocidal war in Gaza to help achieve justice and peace.

The Manchester City boss used his team’s pre-match EFL Cup press conference against Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday as a platform to highlight the plight of people affected by war around the world, particularly in Gaza.

“Never in the history of mankind have we seen the message in front of us so clearly,” Guardiola told reporters in Manchester, England.

“The genocide in Palestine, what’s happening in Ukraine, what’s happening in Russia, what’s happening around the world — in Sudan, everywhere,” he said.

“What’s happening before us? Do you want to see it? This is our problem as humans. This is our problem.”

The 55-year-old expressed his feelings about images from war-torn areas, saying they deeply hurt him.

Guardiola said: “If it had been the other side, I would have been injured.”

“Wanting to hurt another country? That hurts me. Outright killing thousands of innocent people, that hurts me. It doesn’t get more complicated than that. That’s all.”

“When you have an idea and you need to defend it and you have to kill thousands of people? I’m sorry, I will stand up. Always, I will be there, always.”

Catalans say protecting human life is the most important thing.

“What’s happening now, with the technology and advancements we have, humanity is better than ever in terms of possibilities. We can reach the moon; we can do everything.

“But now we still kill each other. Why? When I see these images, I’m sorry and hurt.

“That’s why in every position where I can help build a better society by speaking out, I will work and be there. From my perspective, justice? You have to speak.”

Israeli Gaza genocidal war Since October 2023, at least 71,803 people have been killed and 171,575 injured. On Wednesday, an Israeli attack killed at least 10 people, including a four-year-old girl.

Guardiola has repeatedly expressed support for the Palestinian people and this is the second time in five days that he has addressed the genocide in Gaza in public comments.

Wearing a headscarf, Guardiola denounced the global silence on the plight of Palestinian children in Gaza at a charity event in Spain on January 29, saying: “We have left them alone.”

The Spanish boss was visibly moved when asked why he felt the need to talk about Palestine at the event.

Last year, Guardiola said he was “deeply disturbed” by images of children being killed during Israel’s genocidal war in Gaza.

He is one of the few prominent sports managers who has repeatedly spoken out for Palestinians.

“There is no perfect society, no perfect place, and I am not perfect either. We must strive to be better.”

“I have a lot of friends in many, many countries. When you have an idea and you need to defend it and you have to kill thousands of people, I’m sorry and I will stand up. I will always be there, always.”

Guardiola also commented on two fatal shootings of U.S. citizens by federal law enforcement officers, which have sparked widespread backlash over President Donald Trump’s crackdown on undocumented immigrants.

“Look at what happened in the United States, with Renee Goode and Alex Pretty being killed,” Guardiola said, asking what would happen if a nurse like Pretty was shot dead in the UK under such circumstances.

“Imagine someone (from) the NHS – five or six people around him, walking on the grass” and then being shot.

“Tell me how you defend that?”
