
Two men were sentenced for their part in a trial illegal gambling robbery in Sacramento, that one would receive 301 years of life.
The defendants, Eddie Lee White and John Edward Blount, were prosecuted by Jordan Avey of the Major Crimes Unit.
They face charges, including six counts of robbery and three counts of attempted robbery, stemming from an armed raid on a location that hosted illegal gambling activity.

A woman at the residence called 911 at 1:20 a.m. Monday, reporting armed men in the garage of her home in the 3700 block of 42nd Avenue.
“The men demanded money and other things from people who were playing cards and probably gambling in the garage,” the woman said. He watched the robbery take place from another part of the house through a video surveillance system.
The location was a garage attached to a south Sacramento home, and the defendants approached gamblers, demanding valuables while brandishing weapons.
Information from the case file showed physical assault evidence, and Blount and White were found guilty of hitting residents with furniture in an attempt to dispossess them of their belongings.
“Many of the victims were thrown to the ground, had furniture thrown at them, and were physically attacked during the robbery. When the deputies arrived at the scene, the defendants fled to the neighborhood. They were later arrested with many belongings of the victims in their pockets,” concluded the report of the court in Sacramento.
Blount was also convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm. At sentencing, Strike’s previous convictions for assault with a weapon and robbery were found to be true. Blount was sentenced to 301 years to life, while White received 40 years and eight months.
