Madison Square Garden warns brawler of lifetime ban ahead of Lopez vs. Stevenson Boxing News

New York venue Madison Square Garden issued a warning ahead of games between Teofimo Lopez vs. Shakur Stevenson and the Knicks vs. Lakers.

Madison Square Garden says anyone involved in a fight at the venue will be threatened with a “lifetime ban” after multiple brawls broke out at one of its events.

Video on TMZ.com showed two fights breaking out on Friday before fighters weighed in Saturday night for a fight on a card headlined by Teofimo Lopez and Shakur Stevenson. One of the videos showed a fight breaking out as Bill Haney, the father of boxer Devin Haney, was being interviewed near the stage.

“Madison Square Garden does not condone violence at any type of event, including hockey, basketball, boxing, concerts or special events,” Madison Square Garden said in a statement. “If anyone is found to have engaged in violent activity, whether you are an event attendee or a patron, you will be banned for life and will be barred from attending or participating in any events at all of our venues.”

Thursday’s press conference for the title fight between Lopez and Stevenson turned violent, with the fighters on stage hurling insults at each other’s families and others shouting in the crowd.

There was also a brawl near the cage on Nov. 15 when MSG hosted UFC 322.

The warning comes ahead of a busy weekend for the arena. Organizers say the boxing event is sold out and the Los Angeles Lakers will visit the Knicks on Sunday for a nationally televised game that could be LeBron James’ last game on the court.
