Macaulay Culkin Fans have strict rules if they want to approach him in public.

The “Home Alone” icon guest-starred on Jason Bateman and Will Arnett’s show “No Wisdom” Podcast and explained that whenever he plans to leave the house, he sets “certain ground rules.”

“Don’t approach me when I’m at the dinner table. I don’t like that. Don’t approach me when I’m with my kids,” Culkin said while explaining some of his personal boundaries.

Culkin has two children with actress Brenda Song: sons Dakota (4) and Carson (3).

Culkin stressed to Bettman and Arnett that fans “absolutely” should not follow him to the bathroom.

“Don’t come near me when I’m at the dinner table. I don’t like that. Don’t come near me when I’m with my kids.”

The actor said that over time, he learned that he was responsible for the social interactions with his fans, not the other way around.

“I’m responsible for the social contract. I’m responsible for the interaction,” Culkin said. “I can guide that interaction.”

Culkin began his Hollywood career at a very young age and quickly became a talented child actor in the late 1980s. Culkin’s breakthrough came in 1990’s Home Alone, in which he played the smart and independent Kevin McCallister, making him one of the most famous child stars in the world almost overnight.

During a recent screening of the iconic holiday film at the Academy Museum to celebrate its 35th anniversary, actor and film director Chris Columbus, 45, sat down for a Q&A, in which Culkin revealed that both of his children are huge fans of the film.

“They don’t even call it ‘Home Alone,’ they call it ‘Kevin.’ They’re like, ‘Wow, Kevin’s really funny.’ And I’m like, ‘He’s handsome, too, and someone your mom (Brenda Song) might like,” Culkin said, via hollywood reporter.

While the two are big fans of Christmas movies, Culkin said he didn’t tell them he was Kevin, saying, “I try to keep the magic alive.”

“I showed it to my oldest – he wanted to see a picture of me and my siblings, so I pulled out this old picture; all my siblings, and he looked right at me and said, ‘Who is that? Looks like Kevin,'” Culkin shared. “I said, ‘Oh no, no one, this is your aunt.'”

Culkin said in the Q&A that his perspective on the film has changed since becoming a father, saying he now works closely with Catherine O’Hara’s character, “seeing how desperate she was and how hard she tried to get home” to her son.

He also shared that since becoming a parent, people have always asked him if he watches “Home Alone”? and his childrenhe replied: “Of course, the movie is great.”

“But I don’t watch movies, I watch them,” he said. “I look into their eyes. I hear their laughter and stuff like that. It makes me very proud to be a part of something like this. So it resonates now. Now I can see it through their eyes.”

He continued: “You guys grew up on it and now you’re raising your kids on it, right? So, now I’m raising my kids on it. It means a completely different thing. That’s it.” I watch movies now. “
