Luke Littler has only been world champion for a few days but he is already targeting more titles in 2025, including becoming back-to-back Premier League champions.
Littler made history at Alexandra Palace on Friday night when he became the youngest ever winner of the World Darts Championship at the age of 17, surpassing his rival Michael van Gerwen in 2014. At the age of 24 against Peter Wright’s championship record.
Littler enjoyed an incredible first year as a professional, winning 10 titles including the Premier League and finishing in the Grand Slam of Darts, before claiming the biggest prize of them all and completing his mission. won his first Grand Slam title.
Littler sent the O2 Arena crowd into a frenzy when he hit a nine-dart in the 2024 Premier League final against Luke Humphries and made it clear he wants to keep the trophy for himself in 2025 in the cabinet.
“Yeah, if I could get back-to-back, it would mean the world,” Littler said.
“Before (2024) I thought if I could be in the top four I would be happy, but obviously I got first because of the way I played.
“But I would have the same mentality, if you get into the play-offs, that’s the most important thing, give it your all at the O2.”
His nine-dart haul in the Premier League was one of four “nuked” in 2024, equaling Gerwyn Price’s nine-dart record in 2022 and admitted he would love to Break this record at the World Championships.
Littler knows time is on his side, though, and if he can pick up “11 or 12” titles by 2025, the No. 1 ranking could soon be on his radar.
“I would have loved to hit nine darts at the World Championships and obviously I would have tried to finish 2024 with five nine darts, but that’s not the case so obviously that’s another record I can try to break over the years,” Littler added.
“When you play that well, you can feel the nine ball coming.
“I’m just going to recharge my batteries and relax now, but people will see that I’m hungry for more titles this year and hopefully I can do better and win 11 or even 12 titles down the road.
“Obviously, if I could add some money to the rankings, and we all know the amount of defense Humphries plays, that’s a huge amount of money.
“But the other thing, I can’t wait to go to the World Cup with him. Maybe at the end of 2025 I can see myself being number one.”
