Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Committee Chairman Casey Wasserman issued a statement acknowledging that his emails were among more than 3 million documents released Friday by the U.S. Department of Justice related to investigations into human traffickers and child sex offenders Jeffrey Epstein.
The press release includes Wasserman and Ghislaine Maxwell. But Wasserman now claims he never had a relationship with Epstein.
“I deeply regret my correspondence with Ghislaine Maxwell more than two decades ago, long before her horrific crimes came to light. I never had a personal or business relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. As is well documented, I flew on Epstein’s plane on a humanitarian trip in 2002 as part of a Clinton Foundation delegation. I am deeply sorry to have had any association with any of them,” the statement said.

Wasserman’s 2003 emails to Maxwell included the phrases: “Where are you, I miss you” and “Can we book a massage now?” Wasserman was married at the time. In 2021, Wasserman divorced his wife of 20 years, Laura Ziffren Wasserman.

Maxwell’s response The letter to Wasserman included the following: “All this friction – are you sure you can handle it? Frankly, the thought makes me a little breathless.” and “There are a few places that apparently drive a man crazy – I thought I could practice them on you and you can let me know if they work?”
On August 10, 2019, Epstein was found dead in his cell at a Manhattan federal prison. It was later ruled a suicide. He faces up to 45 years in prison for crimes related to sex trafficking of minors.
In 2021, Maxwell was convicted on five counts of sex trafficking and abuse of a minor. She is serving a 20-year sentence.
