LG brings a lamp that doubles as a small garden to CES 2025. The “indoor gardening appliance” is designed for apartment dwellers or anyone challenged in the backyard to enjoy the benefits of home products.
During the day, LG says the lamp with a round lampshade shines LEDs in five different intensities on whatever plants you want to grow. Then, at night, the lights turn up to create cozy mood lighting in whatever room you place the lamp. If you want something more compact and armchair-high, LG also has a version the size of a side table.
The taller, standing lamp can hold up to 20 plants at a time, according to LG, and the entire setup is height-adjustable so you can accommodate larger leafy greens or smaller herbs and flowers. The real beauty of LG’s design, however, is that you don’t have to worry about watering. There is a 1.5 gallon tank built into the base of the lamp that can dispense just the right amount of liquid for whatever you are planting. Both lamps are also connected to LG’s ThinQ app so you can adjust lighting and watering schedules remotely.
LG has introduced its first take on an indoor gardening tool, the LG Tiunat CES 2022. That larger, refrigerator-shaped device can also grow and water plants automatically, but it doesn’t look much better than the company’s new lamp. With all the features it has, the new LG lamp is just that a Sonos speaker away from the highest living room furniture. At least until tech companies find another use for the lamps.
LG’s new home care equipment doesn’t have a release date or official price, but the company is expected to share more details when CES 2025 officially begins.
