Leeds United hope to beat Chelsea to sign Dario Esugo

Leeds United are reportedly stepping up their pursuit of Dario Essogo, the highly-rated defensive midfielder who has joined La Liga side Las Palmas on loan from Sporting CP.

Los Blancos are eager to sign the 19-year-old as they hope to strengthen their squad and make a key contribution to promotion to the Championship.

According to football reporters Ellen NixonLeeds United are preparing a loan-to-buy proposal for Esugo to fend off competition from Premier League giants Chelsea and other interested clubs.

This is not the first time Leeds have tried to sign the Portuguese star – they had previously brought him in in the summer, but Sporting Lisbon opted to send him to Las Palmas for further development.

Esugo has performed well in La Liga this season, starting all 12 games and even scoring one goal. His consistent performances in Spain have further enhanced his reputation as one of Portugal’s most exciting young talents.

Esugo joined Sporting Lisbon’s youth academy at the age of nine and made history by becoming the youngest debutant in the club’s history at just 16 years old. He subsequently broke Luis Figo’s record as the youngest starter for Sporting Lisbon and became Portugal’s youngest player to feature in the Champions League.

Esugo is contracted to Sporting Lisbon until 2027 and is highly regarded by his parent club, making any potential deal a major coup for Leeds.

If Leeds succeed in bringing Esugo to Elland Road, the youngster would add much-needed depth and quality to Daniel Farke’s midfield.

Known for his composure, ball-winning ability and tactical intelligence, Esugo can provide solid defense while also supporting the team in transition.

Leeds United, currently second in the Championship table, are in a good position for automatic promotion but face stiff competition in the second half of the season. Reinforcing the squad with Esugo’s talent could be crucial in maintaining their momentum and cementing their bid to return to the Premier League.

Falk has admitted He will have money to spend in the January transfer window if he needs it. They have been linked to multiple players, including Liverpool player Cowichan Kelleher.

The coming weeks will tell whether Leeds can beat other bigger clubs and finalize a deal for the teenager.
