Top Democrats on the House Oversight Committee on Monday called on Kentucky Republican Rep. Thomas Massie to call on Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick to step down over alleged business ties with the United States. Jeffrey Epstein.

Lutnick is listed as a “signatory” along with nine other investors, appearing alongside Epstein, who is listed as a “preferred holder.”

Rep. Robert Garcia, D-Calif., said the documents clearly contradict Lutnick’s previous statements about his ties to Epstein.
“It is now clear that Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick has been lying about his relationship with Epstein. He said he had no dealings with Epstein after 2005, when we now know they were doing business together,” Garcia said in a post to X.
“Lutnick must resign or be fired. He must answer our questions,” Garcia added.
Garcia’s call came after Massey made similar comments on Sunday. When asked about Lutnick’s appearance in the CNN archives, Massie also said Lutnick should step down.

“He should resign. The price for Prince (Andrew) losing his title is less than what we are seeing Howard Lutnick lied,” Massey said, referring to members of the royal family who were stripped of their titles last year over their links to Epstein.
“He had business dealings with Jeffrey Epstein — and this was years after Epstein was convicted of sex crimes. So, he had a lot to answer for.”

Other documents in the Epstein file show correspondence between Lutnick and Epstein’s staff that suggest Lutnick may have met with Epstein in the Virgin Islands.
“Jeffrey Epstein knew that you would be visiting St. Thomas during the holidays. Jeffrey requested that I forward some phone numbers to you so that the two of you could get together,” one of Epstein’s assistants wrote in the email Dated November 2012.
In response to an inquiry from Fox News Digital about Garcia and Massey’s criticism, a spokesperson for the company Ministry of Commerce Treat their requests as a distraction.

“Mr. Lutnick met Jeffrey Epstein in 2005 and had very limited interactions with him over the next 14 years,” the spokesman said.

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Cuomo, R-Ky., did not respond to a request for comment on whether the committee would consider questioning Lutnick as part of the committee’s ongoing investigation into Epstein and his crimes.
