‘It doesn’t matter if they come or not’ – Krishnamachari Srikkanth’s blunt verdict on Pakistan’s boycott threat: India vs Pakistan is the highlight of the 2026 T20 World Cup. However, fiascos have been happening between the two countries. The Pakistani government posted the following on social media on Sunday after Pakistan announced that it will participate in the T20 World Cup but will not play the match against India.
Since then, many former players and critics have spoken out about the ongoing differences between the two countries. Now, former India World Cup winner Krishnamachari Srikkanth has dropped his comments on the controversy between India and Pakistan.
Krishnamachari Srikkanth satirizes Pakistan
He made an important statement about the threat Pakistan would pose if they did not play India. He believed Pakistan was scared of India and that the game would be an “easy win” for Suryakumar Yadav’s side anyway; he also took a jibe at the arch-rivals.

Speaking on YouTube channel ‘Cheeky Cheeka’, Krishnamachari Srikkanth said, “Empty boats make more noise. Pakistan are scared. Now, in the U19 World Cup, they also lost. So they are thinking of giving up. Whether they participate or not, this game is a win for India. Whether they come or not, it doesn’t matter. Asia Cup, they played all the games against India.”
Pakistan’s chances look slim
The match is scheduled to take place on February 15 at the R Premedasa Stadium in Colombo. This will be the ninth time the two teams have met in a T20 World Cup match, with India having the upper hand, winning seven of the last eight encounters, while Pakistan have managed just one victory since 2021.
Pakistan has still maintained its stance of not opposing India; however, they did not get any support from other board members either. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has also not submitted any formal letter to the International Cricket Council (ICC) on the matter as the social media post is not considered official by the apex body.
Krishnamachari Srikkanth names World Cup finalists
Krishnamachari Srikkanth, apart from talking about India vs Pakistan, also talks about the teams that are likely to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup and the favorites for the tournament. “I think India, England, South Africa and Australia will play in the semi-finals. I think the final should be between India and Australia. They will be India’s closest competitors,” he said.
Krishnamachari Srikkanth believes both Australia and India are similar powers and expressed concerns about Australia’s bowling attack and its ability to defend the total. Krishnamachari Srikanth said: “Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, Tim David, Maxwell and Green. To be fair, if any two of those five had played, they would have been as strong a batting force as India. But there was no room for their bowling.”
With three days left for the mega T20 event in India and Sri Lanka, teams are gearing up and the excitement among fans has only grown as India will take on the United States in the final match of the first day.
