Jennifer Gray and Patrick Swayze’s A sex scene from the 1984 film Red Dawn never made it into the film because too much of some substance was used.
On December 20, Gray was a guest “Hollywood Reporter Awards Chatter” podcast and recalled smoking “a lot of weed” before filming the scene with a drunken Swayze.
“We were in this, you know, sleeping bag and he was nervous or something and he got drunk and got into the sleeping bag,” Gray told host Scott Feinberg.

“As an actor, you look at everything in the script and you think, OK. I’m running. I’m filming. I’m running. I’m throwing grenades. I’m killing myself with grenades, but this is The only acting scene I don’t do is action,” Gray said of the sex scene.
She calls the scene “one of the more tender scenes, and I think that’s part of the reason why I wanted to do this job.”
“I was also smoking a lot of marijuana in those days. So, I was very paranoid and I was scared.”
Gray noted that Swayze “didn’t know his lines. And then it got cut. They said, ‘We’ll come back and reshoot it.'” But, of course, they didn’t. “
The actress said her partner “set off firecrackers on my door… to prank me.”

“I also smoked a lot of marijuana in those days,” Gray explains. “So, I was so paranoid, I was so scared. I was up all night. So when I went in to shoot my big love scene, my big… romantic scene with him, I was so angry because I, you know , are all self-righteous.”

Gray wants listeners to “remember, I’m a super young actor…really taking everything seriously and maybe a little bit annoying…because I want to do good.”

“This was the worst night of my life,” she told the outlet. “I know (Patrick) said, ‘I’m dead,’ but for me, that night, I was sleeping with him on a cot in the hospital room. It felt like a nail was driven into my own coffin. “

Lisa went on to explain that when Patrick was diagnosed, “it was impossible to turn things around.” She added that they were delighted “that he miraculously survived 22 months.”

Lisa explained that after Patrick’s death in September 2009, “one thing that got (her) through it” was to keep reminding herself that “people do this all the time.”

“It was painful because I thought, ‘This is going to kill me. The grief is going to kill me,'” she told People. “But you know what? It’s not going to kill everyone. If they can do it, so can I.”
