Jeffrey Epstein asked an unidentified woman to buy a Snow White costume just weeks before former Barclays chief executive Jes Staley’s infamous exchange with convicted sex offender over the Disney character.

“I want to take pictures of you in a Snow White costume. You can get them at the costume shop,” Epstein wrote to the woman on June 20 2010, according to newly released documents from the US Department of Justice, to which she replied: “Get it!”

The exchange happened three weeks before Staley sent Epstein an email on July 10 that said, “that is fun. Say hi to Snow White “, in what has become one of the most controversial communications between two people over a year-long relationship that the banker insists is professional.

Epstein also received a message from what appeared to be a second woman, whom the Financial Times chose not to name, dated the same day, saying: “Snow white was f..ed twice when she put on her costume.”

There was no information in the emails about the women’s ages.

Staley said in 2025 that she was unaware of Epstein’s “horrendous activities” while she was in a relationship with him. The new emails do not mention Staley, nor do they list him as a recipient.

The letters also do not clearly state that the references to “Snow White” all refer to the same person.

Staley is stepping down as chief executive of Barclays in 2021 following an investigation by the Financial Conduct Authority into his relationship with the disgraced financier. Barclays sought to reassure the regulator that Staley had no close ties to Epstein in a letter it found misleading.

The American investment banker last year sought in court to overturn a lifetime ban imposed by the Financial Conduct Authority, which prohibited him from holding any senior management roles in the financial services industry because of his relationship with Epstein.

During the court proceedings, Staley was asked if he remembered referring to any of the women Epstein was with as Disney characters or princesses or specific “Snow White” individuals. The former Barclays boss said: “No.”

“I’ll be honest to God, when I went through the emails I had no idea what it meant. I had no idea who Snow White was,” he said during court testimony.

Staley failed to overturn the FCA ban, with the presiding judge holding that he acted “without integrity” by approving a letter from the bank to the regulator that said Staley had no close relationship with Epstein.

The new trove of emails shows a number of exchanges between Epstein and the woman whom the FT chose not to name, some of which contain descriptions of women and young women.

“Milan can be interesting too. The girls are hungry there,” the woman wrote to Epstein in April 2010. “Can we choose a girl from all the girls I saw at the start? I’ll make snaps and videos tmw.

In another email from September of that year, he described a woman he called “second – 21”, saying: “Discrete, not stupid but not very smart … stubborn, wants to study acting, seems lost, has no goals in life, late by an hour, rents a room in the east village, doesn’t like to go to places where all the models go.”

An attorney for Staley did not immediately provide a comment.
