Jasprit Bumrah named captain, Pat Cummins left out of Cricket Australia’s annual Test squad for 2024


Cricket Australia (CA) has announced the 2024 Test squad. Indian national cricket team fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been named captain of the team, which has only two players from the Indian team.

Cricket Australia named Yashasvi Jaiswal as the team’s opener based on his contribution in Tests. The Indian national cricket team batsman scored 1,478 runs at 54.74, scored 3 centuries and scored a best of 214 in the 15 matches he played. He emerged as India’s leading run-scorer in Tests this year.

He was accompanied by England national cricket team opener Ben Duckett. The left-hander had another great year in 17 matches as he smashed 1,149 runs at 37.06, his highest score of two centuries, as he hit 153 for India.

Joe Root, the leading runner-up in Tests in 2024, will be named third in Cricket Australia’s annual Test squad. In the 17 matches he played, he smashed 1,556 runs at 55.57, with his best score of 262 coming in Pakistan. Apart from this, he also picked 11 wickets.

Rachin Ravindra, Harry Brook and Kamindu Mendis in Cricket Australia’s annual Test squad

New Zealand national cricket team all-rounder Rachin Ravindra has finished fourth in Cricket Australia’s Test Team of the Year. The New Zealand batsman scored 984 runs at 42.78 with two centuries, including one in India to help his team whitewash India at home.

Harry Brook and Kamindu Mendis are also nominated for the International Cricket Federation’s Test Cricketer of the Year award and will form the middle order of the team. The England batsman scored 1,100 runs at 55.00 with four centuries, including three centuries. On the other hand, the Sri Lankan batsmen scored 1,049 runs at 74.92 runs with 5 centuries.

Alex Carey has been named the wicketkeeper-batsman of the team for his heroics with the bat and glove. He scored 440 runs at 33.84 with three fifties to spare and also made 46 dismissals, including 42 catches and four stumps.

Jasprit Bumrah leads the team’s bowling attack with Matt Henry and Josh Hazlewood being the other two pacers in the team

Jasprit Bumrah was named the captain of the team due to his incredible bowling. The premier fast bowler of the Indian national cricket team took 71 wickets in Tests in 2024, the most by any bowler that year. He also picked out five batters in the 13 games he played.

Jasprit Bumrah is also the captain of the Indian national cricket team and played in the Perth Test match against the Australian national cricket team. Jasprit Bumrah showed incredible leadership skills and led the team to victory in the first match of Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.

Matt Henry and Josh Hazlewood are the other two pacers on the team. Both were incredible with the ball and helped their respective teams win games. The New Zealand pacer took 48 wickets in 9 matches at 18.58, while Hazlewood took 35 wickets in 15 matches at 13.60.

Keshav Maharaj has been selected as the spinner of the team along with the pacers. The South Africa national cricket team member took 35 wickets at 19:20 and helped his team reach the final of the ICC World Test Championship.
