He’s here campaign for it he’s almost Aquaman, and now, Jason Momoa is getting a late holiday gift: the actor will trade DC’s ocean for its stars as he dons the mantle of intergalactic bounty hunter, Lobo.
The deadline reports that Momoa will first appear as Lobo in the cosmic future Supergirl movie, Woman of Tomorrowhero House of the Dragonby Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El. Although Momoa himself did not specify when and where he will appear, he confirmed the news in an Instagram post with a screenshot from an earlier quote where he said “If (DC Studios) calls and asks me to play him, it’s a fuck yeah,” now with the simple caption “they called.”
Momoa isn’t the first actor to cross over from the former DC cinematic universe into James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DCU, but he’s the most famous so far, making a change from a former member of the Justice League to whatever capacity we are. He can be seen as a Wolf. Gunn has teased it before that Lobo will be a character we eventually see in this new universe—even if it’s in supporting roles like Woman of Tomorrow or more of a standalone film or TV series, remains to be seen, but it would be nice to see at least one former DC star get what they want under the new regime.
We’ll bring you more on James Gunn’s plans for the DCU as soon as we learn them.
