Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s ruling Liberal Democratic Party won a landslide victory in Sunday’s election parliamentary electionsCaptured about 316 seats in the 465-member lower house and, together with its allies, achieved a governing absolute majority. The result gives her a strong mandate to advance a conservative agenda focused on defense, immigration and economic reform, the Associated Press reported.
Takaichi, a heavy metal fan and drummer who has long considered former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher a source of personal and political inspiration, thanked President Trump for his support, thanked him for his congratulatory message after his victory and said he would continue to align himself with Washington.

Trump wrote on social media: “Congratulations to Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and her coalition for their landslide victory in today’s very important vote. Sanae’s bold and wise decision to call an election paid off tremendously. Her party now controls the Legislature with a historic two-thirds majority An absolute majority – for the first time since World War II. Sanae: I am honored to support you and your coalition in your efforts to achieve a “conservative, peace through strength” agenda, and the wonderful people of Japan who voted with such enthusiasm will always have my strong support.”

The election results were one of the ruling party’s strongest performances in years and cemented Takaichi’s position just months after taking office as Japan’s first female prime minister.
After the meeting results were announced, Takaichi said she was ready to advance policies aimed at making Japan “strong and prosperous” while seeking to implement reforms and support national securityAccording to the Associated Press.
Her agenda includes increasing defense spending, revamping security policy and stimulating economic growth while maintaining a tougher stance against regional threats such as China. Gao Shi, known for his tough stance on Beijing, is expected to maintain Japan’s close cooperation with the United States.
“Gao’s landslide victory shows other leaders that disdain for China may be popular with voters. No one needs to appease or please Xi Jinping anymore,” Asia analyst Gordon Chang told Fox News Digital.

U.S. officials also welcomed the results. finance minister Scott Bessant Describing the aid on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning with Maria Bartiromo,” Takaichi was a strong ally and stressed that her leadership has strengthened the strategic partnership between Washington and Tokyo.
High school victory It was widely seen as a geopolitical signal as well as a domestic political victory. Analysts said the enhanced authorization could deepen cooperation with the United States on security and economic policy at a time of rising tensions in the Indo-Pacific region.

Takaichi supports strengthening Japan’s defense posture and backs amending the constitution to expand the role of the military. On the economic front, she praised former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s stimulus policies.
Experts say her public thanks to Trump underscore the centrality of the U.S. alliance to Tokyo’s strategy moving forward as she prepares to translate electoral momentum into legislation and security actions at home and abroad.
