It’s time for Shakur to face Tank

In 2021, lightweights Gervonta Davis, Teofimo Lopez, Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia earned the nickname “The New Four.” Shakur Stevenson, a weight class below super featherweight, is a rising star.

As Stevenson continues to shine, his name becomes part of the team. At that time, there were five talented boxers in the boxing world and they wanted to see them compete against each other.

On the evening of April 22, 2023, Gervonta Davis entered the ring and faced off against Ryan “KingRy” Garcia. Davis stopped Garcia in the seventh round and looked very impressive.

Once Davis defeated Garcia, boxing fans were concerned about Davis fighting another member of the elite. Initially, they wanted Davis to fight Devin Haney, but suddenly the name of the group’s fifth member began to resonate.

After holding world titles in multiple weight classes, Shakur Stevenson made the move to lightweight, defeating Edwin de los Santos via unanimous decision to capture the vacant WBC world title. Despite his poor performance, Stevenson got the job done.

Two years later, Stevenson faced high-volume boxer William Zepeda. Shakur has been a lot of fun to watch because of his ability to stay in the pocket and consistently hit sharp combinations.

Stevenson ultimately won by unanimous decision. Last weekend, Shakur reached 140, coached Teofimo Lopez, and won a boxing match and WBO world title.

After witnessing everything that happened on January 31st, it’s safe to say that we have officially entered the Shakur Stevenson era. Shakur is ready and willing to fight any fighter considered elite.

Fight fans have always wanted to see a special big showdown, and 2026 is the perfect time to host it. The fight between Shakur Stevenson (25-0, 11 KOs) and Gervonta Davis (30-0, 1, 28 KOs) is one of the biggest fights in boxing.

Back in July 2025, Shakur Stevenson was a guest on the “Way Up With Angela Yee” podcast. When asked about fighting Gervonta Davis, Shakur gave a direct response.

“Honestly, I’ve been calling for this fight for two or three years, so I’m ready to fight. It all depends on Tank. Tank has to say he’s ready.”

In past interviews, Tank Davis has consistently shown a lack of interest in Shakur playing. During a press conference for the Lamont Roach game, a media member asked multiple questions about Shakur, to which Tank responded.

“Who are you, a Shakur fan or something? Why do you keep bringing up Shakur? There are crazy fighters here. I’m fighting Lamont. You keep bringing up Shakur.” Davis continued: “I’m going to screw Shakur.”

Gervonta Davis is an efficient counter-puncher who is accurate, explosive and possesses incredible knockout ability. Shakur Stevenson is an elite boxing technician and defensive specialist.

Currently, Gervonta “Tank” Davis has a personal matter to attend to. Once he gets his affairs in order, hopefully boxing fans will be able to witness Shakur’s blockbuster showdown with Tank sometime in mid-to-late 2026.

With that being said, if the stars aligned correctly and had this massive fight, who would win this showdown, Shakur Stevenson or Gervonta “Tank” Davis?
