Last Thursday, WordPress launched a new Claude connector, allowing site owners to share back-end data with Anthropic’s chatbot system. Users can control which specific data they want to share, and access can also be revoked if and when the user chooses.
Uniquely, Claude is given read-only access, meaning it cannot change anything within the CMS by a user. However, last year WP claiming that it will eventually provide “write” access to the MCP integration, potentially allowing users to perform editorial tasks directly from the connected chatbot of their choice.
Regardless, after Claude is linked to an account, users can ask the chatbot all kinds of questions about the site data it’s given access to—from summarizing the site’s monthly web traffic to analyzing which posts have the least user engagement.
WordPress also provides a list of template prompts for a chatbot—things like “Show me pending comments on my blog” or “Which of my sites is getting the most traffic?” or “Show me which posts are generating the most discussion.” Other functions include comment management (“Show me pending comments on my blog”) and plugin management (“Which plugins are installed on my main site?”).
