At least 50 people were killed Israeli attack Since dawn on Thursday, the entire Gaza, including 12 people seeking aid, medical sources told Al Jazeera as residents reported intensified military bombing in communities in eastern and southern Gaza.
Despite international calls for reconsideration of the action, the Israeli military has been preparing to occupy Gaza, the city of Gaza, the largest city center of the enclave, although the action would cause significant casualties and replace about one million Palestinians living there.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, one of the people criticizing the campaign, said Thursday that it “signs a new and dangerous phase” in the war.
“The expansion of military operations in Gaza City will have devastating consequences. Thousands of civilians, exhausted and wounded, will be forced to flee again, bringing families deeper into danger,” he said.
“This has to stop,” he said.
In Gaza, residents say families fled their homes and most are heading towards the shore when Israeli forces bombed the communities of Shuyayeya, Zeitoun and Sabra.
According to Gaza Civil Defense Agency, no buildings are located in the south of Zeitoun because more than 1,500 houses have been demolished by Israel’s ground operations.
Israeli officials described Gaza City as the last stronghold of Hamas.
“Ended disappearance”
The Israeli military said in a statement that it will continue to operate throughout the Gaza region to target fighter jets and their infrastructure.
The military said Thursday that it killed three fighters over the past day without saying how it identified individuals.
Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that those who died in Gaza on Thursday included a woman and her children sheltered in tent camps for displaced persons in Khan Yunis.
At the same time, UN rights experts expressed alarm In reports about hungry Palestinians seeking food at distribution sites run by the U.S. and Israel-backed GHF, urging Israel to end “heinous crimes.”
Seven independent experts said in a joint statement that they received reports that many people, including one child, “forcedly disappeared” after the aid distribution site in Rafa, southern Gaza.
“The reports of forced disappearances of hungry civilians seeking basic food rights are not only shocking, but also constitute torture,” said experts. Experts authorized by the UN Human Rights Commission said they did not speak on behalf of the UN itself.
“Using food as a targeted tool now requires an end to the disappearance of the masses.”
In response, GHF said there was no evidence of “forced disappearance” found in its aid sites.
According to AFP, GHF said in response to an expert statement: “We operate in a war zone, in a war zone, there are serious allegations against all parties operating outside our website. But within the GHF facility, there is no evidence of forced disappearance.”
New famine death
Gaza’s Ministry of Health also said on Thursday that four people, including two children, died of malnutrition in seats in the humanitarian crisis, and hunger Since the beginning of the war, hunger-related deaths have been increased to 317 in the enclaves, including 121 children.
“The scene on the ground is heartbreaking,” Al Jazeera’s Tareq Abu Azzoum reported from Deir El-Balah in central Gaza.
“In the hot heat, families are still lined up in front of the soup kitchen for hours and usually return to their makeshift shelter,” he said.
“Others risked their lives to go to the distribution site for food assistance.”
Israel’s military campaign destroyed the territory and displaced approximately 2 million Palestinians.
It began with Hamas’ October 2023 attack on Israel, which killed 1,139 people and 251 others captured. Since then, most of the prisoners have been released through diplomatic negotiations, although 50 are still in Gaza, 20 of whom are still alive.
Meanwhile, Israel has not yet publicly responded to Hamas’ acceptance of the ceasefire proposal, which would allow some prisoners to be returned.
However, Israeli officials insist that they will only accept one deal that will bring all the released prisoners and Hamas to surrender.
More than 62,900 Palestinians, most of whom are women and children, were killed by the Israeli military GazaAccording to local health officials.
