Yashasvi Jaiswal absolves Shubman Gill of the guilt caused by his unfortunate dismissal, which cost the Indian skipper two centuries.
India defeated the West Indies by 140 runs and an innings in the first Test of the home series before advancing to Delhi for the second match of the series. On a batting-friendly track in Delhi, Shubman Gill won the first delivery and elected to bat first.
The Indian line-up was unchanged from the first Test victory in Ahmedabad, but India performed well in the first innings of the second Test. They scored a mammoth score of 518 runs with the help of Yashasvi Jaiswal and captain Shubman Gill.

‘It’s part of the game, so it’s okay’ – Yashasvi Jaiswal on his unfortunate dismissal
When Yashasvi Jaiswal took to the field with opening partner KL Rahul, who had scored a wicket in the previous game, the young left-hander looked eager to score a big score. The left-hander has been looking for some runs so far as he has lacked form in the final stages of the England tour.
Even though KL Rahul was dropped early, he achieved the 700th score of his Test career and went on to break a series of huge records. He batted alongside Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill and completed the first day with 173. However, he was dismissed early on the second day when he was dropped after a mix-up with captain Shubman Gill.
While Indian fans blamed captain Shubman Gill for the dismissal, Yashasvi Jaiswal’s latest comments have saved him from unnecessary anger. Jaiswal said: “It’s part of (his running) game, so it doesn’t matter. “
“Always have an idea of what I can achieve and what my goals are,” Jaiswal
While talking to Yashasvi Jaiswal, host Harsha Bhogle took pleasure in asking him about his intention while batting as 5 of his 700 runs were 150+ scores. Jaiswal chuckled at this and claimed that he thought batting for an hour would help him find his groove and score runs with ease.
“I always think about what I can achieve, what my goals are and what my team’s goals are, and I just try to be in the game and make sure that if I’m in it, I should stick with it,” India batsman Jaiswal said.
Indian spinners achieve breakthrough despite batting-friendly track
Despite the batting-friendly pitch at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium, the Indian spinners still had an excellent control of the match and bowled out the West Indies batsmen. Even in the West Indies attack, only the likes of Jomel Warrican and Roston Chase got wickets in the first innings.
In the Indian bowling innings, India Test side’s experienced spinner Ravindra Jadeja picked three wickets with great help from Indian fielders KL Rahul and Sai Sudharsan. Kuldeep Yadav also picked a wicket as West Indies managed just 140/4 on Day 2.
