Amad Diallo’s key moments for Manchester United
As early as October 2020, Manchester United announced the introduction of wingers Amad Diallo Coming from Italian side Atalanta, many supporters were unaware of the talent the board was buying.
He arrived a few months later during the January transfer window and spent his first few years playing a bit part, even being loaned out twice.
However, Amorim’s arrival has made the Ivorian a key member of the team over the past few months, even allowing the 23-year-old to assume the somewhat unnatural role of full-back.
The transformation may have come as a surprise to many, but it was a masterstroke that allowed the youngster to create countless unforgettable moments for supporters.
Arguably his biggest goal to date came in last season’s Manchester derby, where his last-gasp effort earned the Red Devils a famous win at the Etihad.
He has even contributed multiple times at Old Trafford, scoring a stunning quick hat-trick against Southampton in the 2024/25 season to help the team secure a crucial three points.
The 2025/26 campaign has been a bit quiet compared to the standards he has set for himself of late, but he did score a potential Goal of the Season contender against Nottingham Forest.
The man who could be Manchester United’s next Amad
In the first 13 league games of the 2025/26 season, Amad has scored a total of three goals and provided three assists, one of which came at the City Stadium.
However, there is no doubt that the head coach will have to find a solution in the coming weeks as the 23-year-old looks set to join the Ivory Coast squad for the Africa Cup of Nations.
It remains to be seen who will fill the void, especially with Brian Mbemo and Nussel Mazrawi also set to compete with their respective national teams.
During this period, management will likely delve into the transfer market to find an immediate or long-term solution to help provide needed depth in a wide range of areas.
Other aspects of the squad will undoubtedly be targeted as well, with the hope of finding a player similar to Amad who also has the potential to develop into a top-tier talent.
The hierarchy have sealed a deal ahead of the transfer window, with Colombian teenager Christian Orozco having moved to Old Trafford.
The midfielder will join the club from Fortaleza in the winter transfer window for a subsequent fee of around $1 million (£750,000) – a fee that could be a bargain.
However, despite being only 17 and playing in a different role, he does bear some similarities to Manchester United’s Ivorian star as he is an unknown quantity for many.
He has also agreed to join at a later date, like Amad, which may only generate more excitement until he officially joins the club in early 2026.
