ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026: After weeks of tension and prolonged suspense, the India-Pakistan match will finally take place in Colombo, Sri Lanka on February 15 (Sunday). The match is scheduled to take place at 7pm (local time) at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
Flight fares from major Indian cities – Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore – witnessed a steep rise soon after the match was confirmed to take place.
Due to the excitement among cricket enthusiasts, flight fares to Colombo have gone up to ₹1.39 lakh. The unprecedented last-minute rush is explained by a great deal of back-and-forth between both teams and their respective tables.
Delhi-Colombo flight fare on February 15
A one-way flight ticket from Delhi to Colombo was sold for up to ₹1.10 lakh in economy class and ₹2.25 lakh for business class on Air India.
In the case of Sri Lankan Airlines, the same airfare went up to ₹ 1.39 lakh in economy class and stood at ₹ 2.05 lakh in business class.
This is much higher than the regular airfare from Delhi to Colombo. A one-way direct flight fares between ₹11,600 and ₹15,500, while return tickets cost between ₹21,000 and ₹25,000.
Mumbai-Colombo flight fare on February 15
At the time of writing this story, a Mumbai-Colombo one-way ticket costs ₹84,939 in economy class on Air India. The lowest fare for the same route on offer is ₹28,035, which is filling up fast.
In the case of Sri Lankan Airlines, the fare for a one-way ticket from Mumbai to Colombo is ₹ 63,340 for economy class and ₹ 1.34 lakh for business class.
This is much higher than what a one-way flight from Mumbai to Colombo normally costs.
One-way direct flights from Mumbai to Colombo usually cost between ₹8,200 and ₹11,500 and budget options are available between ₹9,000 and ₹10,000. Round-trip fares usually start between ₹19,800 and ₹22,000.
Bangalore-Colombo flight fare on February 15
Although there is a hike in the fares of flights from Bengaluru to Colombo due to the rush caused by the India-Pakistan match, the impact is mitigated due to the short distance.
A one-way direct Air India flight costs ₹86,797 on the day of the match. The lowest cost for the Bangalore-Colombo flight is ₹33,877, according to the airline’s website.
One-way flight tickets from Bangalore to Colombo cost between ₹7,500 and ₹15,000 for economy class and a round trip usually costs between ₹18,000 and ₹25,000.
