Uisma Lima said his goal is to win every round, put in a strong performance against favorite Jalen Ennis and sign a promotional contract with Eddie Hearn following Saturday’s junior middleweight headliner on Saturday, Oct. 11, at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia.
It will be interesting to see if Hearn ends up signing a contract with Lima, if he defeats “The Boot,” or if he makes Lima look bad like Kyren Chuhargian did in the rematch on November 9, 2024.
Lima (14-1, 10 KOs) admits people didn’t give him a chance against former unified welterweight champion Ennis (34-0, 30 KOs). However, he figured that was because they had never seen him fight before.
Lefty Power and Pressure
Southpaw Lima is a heavy puncher with a powerful left hand that can do a lot of damage. If Ennis is exhausted by falling to 154, he may lose to Lima or have a hard time winning. Lima Biennis’ last opponent, Emmantas Stanionis, is a step up and he could be a problem.
In yesterday’s confrontation, Lima looked like a bigger, fitter fighter compared to the tired, battered “Boots.” It’s clear from them that the 32-year-old Lima is a natural middleweight, not one who comes from 170 or 180 years old.
In contrast, Ennis appears to have lost a lot of weight, tipping the scales at 154, suggesting he will be drinking plenty of water after Friday’s weigh-in. Hearn has said he thinks Ennis will get stronger and now that he has moved up from 147 to his ideal weight class. But it doesn’t seem so. From the looks of it, “The Boot” needs to be a middleweight.
“They do not know me” – Uisma’s message
“People because they (don’t) know me, they think it’s an easy fight. Working every round and winning every round is my goal and my mission. People will see that I’m a skilled guy. I have it all. People will see that. This is a top-level fighter,” Uisma Lima said trodden ground On how he hopes to win over fans on Saturday against Jalen Ennis.
Lima spent his six-year career in isolation, battling against little-known opposition. Uisma’s only notable fighter in his career was Aaron McKenna, whom he lost a hard-fought 10-round unanimous decision on June 16, 2023. During that game, Lima fired up McKenna on the sidelines.
McKenna chose to take it inside to seize power in Lima. This does work, but it’s an ugly fight and hard to score. Lima’s hitting was harder and more dramatic, but McKenna was a little busy.
Eddie Hearn’s vision in Lima
“My goal right now is to sign with the promotion. I need a good promotion and Ed (Hearn) will like me. This Saturday, ‘I’m going to sign with this guy,'” Lima said of his desire to impress Eddie Hearn so he can sign with Matchroom. “He’s a good guy. I’d like to make a deal with him.”
