House Democrats prepare to defy Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer’s Fox News Digital has learned that a spending deal with the White House could extend the current partial government shutdown.

Johnson told House Republicans on a members-only conference call on Friday that he hopes to pass the legislation with a “suspension of the rules,” which would speed up passage of the bill in exchange for raising the passage threshold to a two-thirds vote from a simple majority in the House.

“We can’t trust the minority leader to get his members to do the right thing. That’s the problem,” Emmer told Hasney.

But Jeffries made no commitments after the Senate passed the deal on Friday, saying in a public statement that “the House Democratic caucus will evaluate the Senate-passed spending bill on its merits and then decide how to proceed with the legislation.”
