India bowling coach Moeen Morkel praises ace pacer Jasprit Bumrahcall him ‘ferrari‘, preceded by Fourth T20I against New Zealand in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday, January 28. The former South Africa seamer made the remarks while talking about how India plans to use Bumrah in the upcoming T20 World Cup.

The champion bowler occasionally bowled three overs early in the powerplay while also bowling most of his overs at the end of the innings. However, regardless of the role, Bumrah still contributes to the team time and time again.

Replying to a question on how the team plans to use Bumrah, Morkel said this at a press conference on the eve of the fourth T20I (via RevSportz X Controller):

“We will decide which team we will face. I am a firm believer in setting targets by taking wickets early. Jasprit is the best bowler in the world and has very good skills. There are always a lot of expectations and that burden can take its toll. For me, I am checking in with him to see if he is comfortable as planned. He is like a Ferrari.”

The veteran pacer had a stellar performance in the third match of the T20I series in India, taking 3/17 in four overs.

“We have a handful of bowlers who can bowl in any situation” – Morne Morkel

Morne Morkel believes that the Indian team has multiple bowlers who can bowl across phases in T20 matches, which will help their attack. The bowling coach also specifically mentioned Hardik Pandyahe is the leading wicket-taker in the ongoing New Zealand series with four scalps.

“We have a handful of bowlers who can bowl in any situation. Going into the World Cup, we wanted to have different combinations so that the team doesn’t make plans. Hardik can bowl with the new ball and he can bowl at the end of the innings. As far as Hardik is concerned, he looks fit and has good bounce,” Morkel said (via the source mentioned above).

Like Bumrah, Hardik has also faced various situations for India in the T20I format over the past few years. The veteran all-rounder bowled two wickets in the last four overs as India beat South Africa by seven runs in the 2024 T20 World Cup final.
