Girl knocks over giant beer coaster sculpture that’s planning to apply for Guinness World Records

A towering beer coaster structure made from 63,000 pieces collapsed in dramatic fashion after a young girl removed one of the pieces, shocking onlookers and racking up millions of views in a viral video filmed at a US mall. Cologne, Germany.

This large installation is made of german artist Benjamin Clapper spent more than a month assembling the sculpture to break the Guinness World Record.

“It took me about 120 hours in total to build the sculpture,” Clapper, 49, told Jam Press, describing the painstaking process behind the installation, which he titled “Inside.”

Clapper said the building, which was built inside the Rhine Center shopping mall, was originally intended to challenge the record for largest drink roller coaster construction ever built.

The video shows the girl carefully pulling a roller coaster from the tower before the entire structure tumbles down within seconds, eliciting vocal reactions from viewers.

However, the collapse is not what it initially seems.

Clapper told Jam Press that the tower partially collapsed under its own weight shortly before completion, preventing him from officially qualifying for the record. Therefore, he then invites visitors to interact with the remaining structure.

“Everyone took a turn removing the beer mat from the building until it fell off,” Clapper said. “The winner was the daughter of one of my assistants.”

“She knocked ‘Inside’ down on her first try by pulling out one that was lying horizontally,” he added.

“The video of the roller coaster falling has been viewed millions of times,” Clapper told Jam Press, noting that reactions ranged from “That’s artificial intelligence!” to “Too bad it didn’t work.”

Despite the dramatic collapse, Clapper said structural failures meant the installation was never officially certified by Guinness World Records.

Clapper, media company owner MuVi 3D Ltd.said the project still marks a personal milestone. He began building beer coaster structures as a child and continued building large installations over the decades.

“Gradually, the buildings got bigger and bigger,” he said. “I completed my first major project 33 years ago.”
