California Governor Gavin Newsom has accused TikTok of suppressing content critical of President Donald Trump and launched a review into whether the platform’s moderation practices violate state law. The move follows TikTok’s announcement that its Chinese owner, ByteDance, had struck a deal to avoid a potential ban in the US.
