Last week, the Gaza government media office reported that Israel had violated the ceasefire 1,520 times since it came into effect on October 10. Gaza’s health ministry said 581 people have been killed and 1,553 injured since then.

Al Jazeera’s Ibrahim Khalili, reporting from Gaza City, said the residential building was attacked and damaged during Israel’s genocidal war and is now being used as a shelter for displaced Palestinians.

“With most residential buildings in Gaza destroyed and shelter lacking, people were forced to take shelter in this partially damaged residential building,” he said.

Khalili said Israel’s recent violations of the ceasefire agreement caused serious concern in the region.

“This attack spreads fear and leaves people wondering what will happen next given the deadly escalation launched by the Israeli military.”

Elsewhere on Monday, Israeli forces shot dead Palestinian farmer Khalid Baraka in an area east of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza, according to local sources who spoke to the Palestinian Wafa news agency.

In a separate incident, the Israeli military said it killed four militants who emerged from a tunnel in southern Gaza and attacked Israeli troops.

Hamas military spokesman Abu Obeida later described the incident as “heroic resistance.”

Hamas said in late November that dozens of militants were hiding in tunnels beneath Israeli military-controlled areas in southern Gaza.

This was a sticking point in the early days of the ceasefire, with Israel insisting the militants posed a security threat and Hamas seeking safe passage for them.

Many militants have since been killed in clashes with Israeli forces during operations targeting tunnels near Rafah, according to the military.
