Ford and Renault team up on cheaper EVs in a ‘fight for our lives’


Ford CEO Jim Farley acknowledged Automater is in the “A fight for our lives in our industry” While seeking to remain competitive in Europe amid pressure from Chinese competitors. One of its weapons against threats is a partnership with the French Renault Group.

The two automakers announced an agreement on Tuesday to bring two affordable Ford electric vehicles to the European market at the factory in northern France. The EVS will be built on Renault’s technology platform known as Ampere.

The companies also agreed to “explore” making light commercial vehicles.

The partnership is about what Ford describes as the The next phase of its European transformation – A plan that seeks to make Aut Auts Autsomaker and Equive-efficient in a market with cheaper Chinese Cars from companies like Mensic and the SIIC MOUND.

“As an American company, we see Europe as the forefront of global change in our industry,” Farley said in a statement. “How we compete here – how we innovate, partner, and invest – will write the playbook for Europe.
