European giants eye loan deal to prize former England international away from Manchester United

Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan have made inquiries over a loan deal for Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, according to reports.

Athletic claim the two clubs have approached United to gain an understanding of the financial package it would take to prize Rashford away from Old Trafford.

United are believed to be ready to sell or loan Rashford this month, taking the player out of the wage bill and earning more than £325,000 a week.

The 27-year-old recently said he was “ready for a new challenge,” sparking suggestions his spell at United could come to an end.

The Sun also claimed he held talks with the Stellar Sports agency – they helped Gareth Bale’s £86million move from Tottenham Hotspur to Real Madrid in 2013 – in an attempt to speed up a move.

Rashford remains an attractive prospect for the overseas club despite a largely miserable 18 months in which he has failed to replicate his 30-goal form in all competitions in the 2022-23 season.

The player has also hit the headlines for off-field indiscretions and has been accused of a lack of effort.

Dortmund have the form to sign players from United in the January window after signing winger Jadon Sancho on loan this time last year.

Sancho performed well back in the Bundesliga and as a result decided to move to Chelsea in the summer.
