EU announces next steps in U.S. tariff response on Thursday

European Trade Commissioner Maros Sefcovic said on Wednesday that the EU’s administration will announce further details of its proposed countermeasures on U.S. tariffs in an update on Thursday.

“Tomorrow we will announce the next preparation step, including in the (possible rebalancing measures) area, and also an area important for further discussion,” Sevkovic said at a press conference in Singapore.

Sevkovic said if Current trade negotiations fail.

“The negotiations are obviously the first to come, but at all costs,” he told reporters, adding that the group’s “Razel-centric approach” is still finding a negotiated solution with Washington.

“We are working closely with Member States, the consulting industry, to talk with our key stakeholders to ensure we are ready for anything next,” Sevkovic said.
