Eritrea accuses Ethiopia of fabricating reports of its troops crossing border


From 1998 to 2000, a border war broke out between the two countries, killing more than 100,000 people. The peace deal was never fully implemented and relations eased only after Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed visited the Eritrean capital Asmara in 2018. Abiy Ahmed later received the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts.
