Harry Brook’s men need an improved performance.
England’s aim will be to give a more compelling performance against the West Indies T20 World Cup After narrowing Avoiding a stunning upset against Nepal.
Harry Brook’s men won their opener against the Associates by just four runs on Sunday, with only Sam Curran’s superb death bowling saving them from a humiliating defeat.
England know they will need to improve ahead of a dramatic rematch of the 2016 final, the Windies’ 35-run win over Scotland with Shimron Hetmyer scoring 64 and Romario Shepherd claiming a hat-trick as he took four in five balls in the 17th over.
Although England came very close to being humbled by Nepal, Curran believes they will be better for the experience.
“I think our build-up playing those three T20s in Sri Lanka was really important,” Curran told Sky Sports.
“I think we’re really confident as a side in our roles and stuff like that.
“With Brooky (Harry Brook) taking over, we are getting used to his style of captaincy which has been fantastic.
“In terms of the tournament, the first game, we know how the World Cup is played, it’s very different from a bilateral series.
“To get those two points. I was strangely standing on the field thinking ‘Wow, if we lose this, what’s the equation for qualifying?’
“Now we can smile with two points and we learned a lot from that game.”
Winner of this competition at the Wankhede Stadium First place in Group C. Both sides will end their group campaign against tournament debutants Italy, with England facing Scotland first and the Windies taking on Nepal.
England have won six of the last eight T20 Internationals against the Windies.
