Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk may get office space in the White House as he prepares to lead the new Department of Government Effectiveness (DOGE), according to a new report.
Musk will likely occupy space in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building next to the West Wing, which provides much of the office space for White House staff, The New York Times reports.
Musk and transition officials have discussed Musk meeting President-elect Trump after he takes office, but specific plans have yet to be determined, the outlet reported, noting that people who freely visit the West Wing typically require special passes. .

However, Musk recently expressed doubts about the possibility of cutting $2 trillion from the federal budget, saying that a cut of $1 trillion is more likely.

The Washington Post reported this month that aides to Musk and Ramaswamy have begun interviewing DOGE staff at government agencies, including the Treasury Department and the Internal Revenue Service, the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Department of Homeland Security and Health and Human Services department.
The DOGE team has about 50 people, with plans to expand to about 100 employees before the inauguration. According to the Washington Post, these employees work at SpaceX’s offices in Washington, D.C.
Musk, who has donated millions of dollars to Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign, is still determining whether he will take on the role of leading DOGE as a special government employee and was asked to file as a result, people close to Musk said Financial Disclosure Form. The York Times reports.
