For vacuum company, Dyson sometimes feels like the nerd church. Its devices are a hive of invention: often cool, often expensive, and sometimes the best (or only) device of their kind. The line of vacuums in particular offers more features than a ’90s multiplex, and many models that could also be Paris at fashion week.
As with all high-ticket items, it’s best to buy a Dyson when it’s on sale. Dyson has chosen the depths of winter to offer a great sale on a couple of WIRED’s favorite vacuums and heaters. Dyson’s line has been largely sorted, but luckily, WIRED has spent years sorting the Dyson wheat from the Dyson chaff.
the Dyson’s $350 budget V8 sale is a pretty standard issue dealeasy to find at this price for most of last year. WIRED also recommends that you look for Dyson V11 models at prices under $400, but this $190-off deal on the V11 Extra another decent discount if you’re in the market.
Two of WIRED’s favorite top-line Dyson models are also on sale at deep discounts—our favorite pet hair vacuum and our favorite purifier-heater. Here’s the rundown of the two best-in-class devices on sale right now. or check out Dyson’s site for other Dyson winter sale deals.
Best Pet Hair Vacuum: $250 Off Dyson Gen5 Detect
WIRED reviewer and cat lover Molly Higgins says she’s impressed with the Dyson Gen5 Detect cordless vacuum, her pick as the best pet hair vacuum in the market. It’s basically a combination of versatility and power: It can act as a lightweight cordless stick vacuum or a small handheld vac, but still offers as much power as you’d expect from a corded vacuum. Important for pet owners, it also offers powerful HEPA filtration. For those who want to play with spring cleaning, the device has a digital screen that tracks the particle size of each mite and mote you suck into the filter. It’s not the best deal we’ve seen, but it’s the best since Black Friday.
Best Purifier–Heater Combo: $160 off HP01 Hot + Cool
The HP1 Hot+Cool is the latest update to Dyson’s long line of combination heaters, coolers, and purifiers. It has a HEPA and carbon air filter, an app-enabled air quality sensor, a mostly accurate thermometer, a cooling fan, and a resistance heater. It also looks like a little faceless droid, and is taller and more dominant in a room than other heaters and fans. But I found it to be the most sophisticated wind management tool I’ve tried yet. It’s usually priced accordingly, but it’s $160 off right now, which is roughly equivalent to the best deals we’ve seen on a new device.
