Stop me if you’ve heard this before. Disney informed a successor to outgoing CEO Bob Iger, effective in March. Josh D’Amaro, current chairman of Disney Experiences, was tapped for the role by a unanimous vote of the company’s board of directors.
D’Amaro has been with Disney for 28 years, where he oversaw theme parks, cruises and consumer products including video games. The company has Bob Chapek, the chairman of Disney Parks at the time, as Bob Iger’s successor in 2020. At that time, Iger served as CEO since 2005. But Chapek only lasted until 2022, when Bob Iger to take the helm once again amid the company’s struggles. Disney has created a committee to find a suitable successor in 2023, with Iger overseeing potential candidates.
Iger’s time at the helm has seen the media giant make several significant moves such as the launch of streaming service, and acquisition of 20th Century Fox’s film and television studios. Iger will continue to serve as a board member and senior advisor until his retirement at the end of the year.
