A ceasefire in Ukraine remains a distant prospect, let alone a real peace solution. American diplomatic efforts in Moscow have stalled, with no compromise in sight on fundamental issues, especially territorial ones. Meanwhile, the EU appears to have been relegated to a relatively minor diplomatic role – responding to Trump’s plan with a counter-proposal and continuing to hold “coalition of the willing” meetings to help Kiev.
