Max Holloway recently shared his thoughts on Alexander Volkanovski’s title rematch with Diego Lopes and made a clear prediction.

Volkanovski and Lopez will face off in a featherweight title rematch this weekend at UFC 325 in Sydney, Australia. Volkanovski knocked out Lopez in five rounds at UFC 314 last April, earning a unanimous decision with his hands raised. Volkanovski captured the vacant featherweight title and the two earned themselves a Fight of the Night bonus.

While many expected Volkanovski to face contenders like Movsar Evloev or Lerone Murphy next, Lopez’s second-round knockout win over Jean Silva at UFC San Antonio last September seemed to earn him a title rematch with the Australian.

In a video posted to his YouTube channel, Holloway broke down Volkanovski’s rematch with Lopez and said:

“I feel like there’s something going on with Alex that we don’t know because Alex keeps going around saying he’s going to make this fight look super easy. I think he wants to turn around quickly and fight. Ultimately, I can’t fight Alex. Diego is an animal, don’t get me wrong. Diego is sick; he’s an animal. But I think I’m leaning toward Alex just because of his overall experience.”

He added:

“As long as Volker doesn’t let Diego get in his face, put pressure on him, and then land, I can see a clear path for Volker. Stick and move, what he usually does, get his legs up. Jab, long jab, big right hand.” (High/Ton: mixed martial arts fans)

Alexander Volkanovski outlines ‘biggest achievement’ as MMA fighter

Alexander Volkanovski recently revealed his “biggest achievement” as an MMA fighter. The Australian explains that what he values most is his integrity and his ability to maintain character.

In an interview with Paramount UFC (via @RedCorner_MMA on X), despite Volkanovski’s meteoric rise in the sport, he remains proud to be himself, saying:

“A lot of people ask, ‘What’s your greatest accomplishment?’ I always say throughout this whole process I was able to be myself and I’m still me. I forget that I did these things and sometimes… I really completely forget. I’m just me. It’s all been a slower process. I didn’t get the hype, didn’t get everyone pushing, etc. Even though I was the champion, it took a while for people to really get to know me and understand me.”
